We are pleased to announce that Weir
Valves & Controls (WVC) have been awarded a contract for critical service isolation, regulating and non return valves
by Doosan Babcock Energy Ltd for the Louisville Gas & Electric, Trimble County
unit 2 Supercritical Boiler project.
These valves will be subject to the highest pressures and temperatures on both the feedwater and steam side of
the once through (Benson) supercritical boiler.
The design conditions for the feedwater system are 5207psig (359 barg) and 650°F (343°C) and we are supplying the
following valves:

Feedwater to Economiser Isolating – 24” Parallel Slide Gate Valve
·
Feedwater to Economiser Non Return – 24” Swing Check Valve
·
Small start up storage vessel drain
line isolating – 10” Parallel Slide Gate Valve
·
Larger start up storage vessel
drain line isolating – 10” Parallel Slide Gate Valve
·
Recirculation Pump Discharge Isolating
– 16” Parallel Slide Gate Valve
·
Recirculation Pump Discharge Non
Return – 16” Swing Check Valve
·
HP Attemperator Spraywater Isolating
– 8” Parallel Slide Gate Valve
The design conditions for the live steam system are 4134 psig (285 barg) and 1090°F (588°C), we are supplying the
following valves:

Main Steam Stop Valve – 22” Parallel
Slide Gate Valve

Platen Superheater Drain Isolating
– 8” Parallel Slide Gate Valve
·
Platen Superheater Drain Regulating
– 8” Angle Pattern Control Valve
·
Final Superheater Drain Isolating
– 6” Parallel Slide Gate Valve
·
Final Superheater Drain Regulating
– 6” Angle Pattern Control Valve
The contract delivery is scheduled for the first half of 2008 with boiler start up planned for late 2008.
This order was a result of excellent work between the sales team of Tony Gray, Steve Szpak and Wesley Howard with
technical support from Keith Clayton, Vince Duffy, Martin Dawson, Ian Moore and John Billingsley.
